New Site / New Name / Same great taste

"What is in a name?" ... We, the organizers, really want the user group to grow here in Fredericton. We want to cultivate the developer community. The word on the street was that we were strictly a .NET user group because of the name of the group.

Admittedly, the name of the group is misleading in terms of the topics presented...but, if you look at the the last several meetings:

• Continuous Integration
• ASP.NET MVC (During the lunch and learns)
• AzureFest
• Windows 7 Virtualization
• MongoDB
• CISSP
• Agile Scrum
• SOLID Software Development
• OData

It is about a 50% split between .NET specific content and framework agnostic content.

Seeing that the name was limiting the group's growth potential, we decided to change the name to a more platform agnostic one. Our hope is that as the group gets larger, the increased audience size will draw increased sponsorship, higher profile speakers and quality presentations.

We are definitely not adverse to learning or having presenters on different platforms and technology. The more you know, the better you are able to select the "best tool for the job".

FYI - We are still in the process of transitioning our image assets to be more agnostic as well.
