Topic: A Day in the Life of a Startup Founder

Presenter: Jeff Thompson

Jeff will be giving his insights on the day in the life of a startup founder and the challenges and opportunities in launching a startup from New Brunswick.

Speaker Bio:

Jeff was the founder of Conseros Software that pioneered software for automatically prioritizing and distributing work tasks to the people involved in customer service throughout the enterprise, including the back-office. From its base in Fredericton, Conseros quickly grew in international markets and was acquired by Genesys / Alcatel-Lucent in 2009.

Since the acquisition, the Conseros software has been incorporated into a larger Genesys solution called intelligent Workload Distribution and a key component in several other products including Genesys Social Media product-line.

Jeff brings a breadth of expertise through more than 15 years in a variety of roles in the information technology & telecommunications industries and is a mentor with PropelICT Launc36 accelerator program.

Talk #2

Topic: Making Social Media Work For You

Presenter: Ben Conoley

Showcasing their social media management & consultation experience, Ginger Design applies specific case studies to demonstate how small and community-focused businesses have been able to harness the power of social media.  You will learn how to turn your target audience into a community of committed participants;  resulting in a positive social interaction and, ultimately, a return on your investment.

Speaker Bio:

Ben spent the last ten years earning a handful of university degrees, most recently a Bachelors of Law from the University of New Brunswick. During this time he worked as a journalist, with bylines appearing in a number of leading music and poker publications, both in print and online. As the Managing Editor of one of these websites Ben began to learn the value of social media and community engagement. Ben quickly began to apply social media as a way to reach his readers. Along the way he managed social media for a successful political campaign and began to work with other clients, including Fredericton’s Garrison Ale House and Up Wine Bar. He is also currently a senior analyst with Radian6

Ben has a real passion for social media. He subscribes to the concept of being a life-long student and strives to keep up with developments and trends in the community. He’s excited to share this knowledge
