Matt will provide an overview of JQuery basics including selectors, DOM interaction, events and asynchronous calls.

He will then build on the basics demonstrating plugin development and showing examples of existing plugins like jQuery Templates, TimeAgo, and Placeholder that help you “write less, do more”.

Lastly, Troy will demonstrate how to create a simple reusable widget using jQuery UI.

 

Speaker Bio:

Matt Simms is a Consultant at SwiftRadius, a dynamic, Atlantic Canada based IT consulting firm, focused on enabling business through information technology.

With experience spanning over 8 years in the IT industry, Matt has performed both technical and software development roles across a variety of sectors.

Matt has been developing with the .NET Framework since 2003 having been involved in various projects including internal and public facing ASP.NET applications and web services and line of business WindowsForms.

Wanting to connect with other local developers, he has begun to actively participate in the developer community by co-organizing events and presenting for the Fredericton Developer User Group.

Troy Coburn has been working on the web development team at CARIS for over 6 years. Prior to that he worked with Quantum Training & Development.
